1. Introduction: What is NDA?

The National Defense Academy (NDA) is a prestigious institution where cadets are trained for entry into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA exam twice a year, providing an opportunity to join the armed forces at a young age.

The NDA exam consists of two written papers followed by the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.

Written Examination

  2. General Ability Test (GAT):
    • Duration: 2.5 hours
    • Marks: 600

SSB Interview

  • Conducted in two stages: Psychological Tests and Group Testing.
  • Duration: 4-5 days.

Once selected, cadets undergo a three-year training program at the NDA, where they earn:

  • BA/BSc/BSc (Computer Science) degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), depending on their academic stream.

After completing NDA training, cadets proceed to their respective service academies for specialized training:

  • Army Cadets: Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
  • Navy Cadets: Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.
  • Air Force Cadets: Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad.
